Chardonnay Kollerhof

Vineyard: The Kollerhof winery, which basically produces Pinot Noir, had been looking for a vineyard of Chardonnay, a grape variety also of Burgundian origin, for some time. They finally found what they were looking for: a plot with lime soil, ideal for the variety, south of Lake Kaltern. In 2019, the old pergola was replaced with a modern Guyot training system, planting 3,000 vine shoots of a spreading bunch clone (528/Fercal) suitable for producing a high-quality wine. In 2021, the first harvest, in extremely small quantities, resulted in the production of a few hundred bottles of wine.

Vinification: the grapes are de-stemmed and crushed with subsequent cryomaceration at about 10 hours. The next step is a refinement on the fine steel stools and finally the wine is bottled after six months.

The wine: is characterised by a straw-yellow colour. The nose opens with a bouquet of ripe fruit, enriched by light vanilla notes. On the palate it is powerful, mineral and with excellent persistence.

Recommendations: served at 8° - 10° it can be combined with various first courses and is ideal with white meats.

We recommend drinking Kollerhof Chardonnay in the first four to five years after bottling. It will however have a longer life if stored well.
